World Champions Go Head to Head in Wembley Stadium
Andy Priaulx will be up against another World Champion in December when he joins Michael Schumacher at the International Race of Champions, which coming to the UK for the first time in its 20 year history and will be held in the new Wembley Stadium in December.
"I was invited to drive in the event last year in the Stade de France and it was amazing. The atmosphere was great and the racing was a lot of fun. It is also great to be able to race for your country. On top of that it would be wonderful to beat Michael Schhumacher, as it would be great to say I have beaten a seven times World Champion," said the Guernsey driver who will be teamed with Jenson Button.
For Andy this will be a bitter sweet event. He was also hoping to race against his friend and motorsport legend, Colin McRae. The Scots untimely death in a helicopter crash was a shock to everyone and he will be greatly missed at this event. “We always talk about the grudge match between the English and the Scottish, but with Jenson and myself originally due to be up against Colin and David Coulthard this would have been four friends going head to head. We shall all miss him very much. He was a great competitor and I know the fans will regret this as much as we do. It is up to us to make this an event to remember for his memory,” said Andy.
The event on the 16th December is not only a great chance for fans to see their heroes in action, but also to raise money for charity with a percentage of the profits going to the ICM – The Institute for Cerebral and Spinal Cord Disorders.
